Federer has cruised through his first two matches at the 2009 Wimbledon Championships as he targets his 15th Grand Slam. His 3rd round match was a brilliant performance over the German Philip Kohlschreiber and the Swiss star looked back to his very best as he glided around Centre Court. On his current form it is difficult to look past Federer for the Championship and he will be looking to carry that on against the big serving Ivo Karlovic on Wednesday following his win over Robin Soderling on Monday. His quarter Final Match with Ivo Karlovic was also reasonably straight forward with a straight sets win setting up a Semi-Final with Tommy Haas on Friday.
Roger Federer is quite simply a sporting legend who in many peoples eyes is the greatest Tennis player to have ever picked up a racket having amassed a mind boggling 14 Grand Slams so far at the age of just 27. The Swiss superstar has won every Grand Slam in the calendar after finally winning the French Open on the clay earlier this year to complete the set.

Federer has won Wimbledon five times and will be full of confidence of making it Number 6 this year after losing out to Rafael Nadal in 2008 in what has been called the 'greatest tennis match ever played.' That defeat devastated Federer at the time but he has bounced back in 2009 by winning the French Open which seems to have lifted a big wait off his shoulders. Federer is currently level with Pete Sampras with 14 Grand Slams and will be desparate to pass the record at the All England Club where he has seen his best success.
